The monthly meeting of the Elgin Town Council was held Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Elgin Town Hall with Mayor Brad Hanley presiding. All members were present. Invocation by Melissa Emmons and Pledge of Allegiance led by Larry Risvold followed.
Motion to approve the August minutes by Larry Risvold, 2nd by Melissa Emmons. Unanimous.
Mayor Hanley recognized the new business licenses:
-???????? Copper Finch Tattoo Co. LLC
-???????? Alkaline Water Store
-???????? PowerSecure, Inc. (Temporary)
Financial Information was reviewed by Mayor Hanley ? reviewing the police activity income/expenses and local option sales tax.
August complaint log was reviewed.
Chief Harold Brown ? asked council for permission to break the contract with Time Warner and go with AT&T for internet and phone service as the Time Warner internet has to be reset 6-7 times a week. Council agreed to have Chief check into the switch. Larry Risvold motioned to support the switch if there were no fines or penalties involved. Melissa Emmons 2nd, Unanimous.
OLD BUSINESS
Everyone was reminded of the open house scheduled for Thursday 9/6/12 at 7 p.m.
PUBLIC FORUM
Dean Cook ? local resident ? told council about an even to be held at Blaney Elementary School ? All monies raised in this event would go towards a walking track at the school. It will be a music event and all musicians are playing for free on October 13, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There would also be a silent auction and a presentation by the Blaney School Children?s Chorus.
